The Australian government had a Plastics summit in Canberra on 2nd March. They bought together government, industry and public to discuss the plastic waste problem and find solutions.
They have a goal of all plastic be recyclable or compostable by 2025. While this sounds lofty, in reality is far from enough to stem the tide of plastic waste being generated. One could already claim that all plastic is already recyclable. But in actuality only a few percent is recycled. A big difference. There are very few commercial compost facilities around and no infrastructure to support the consumer with their commercial compost waste. So it inevitably goes to landfill where it will not biodegrade as it is too cold, and lacks oxygen.
Biogone products still are far ahead of the above government goals.
